1.Are feelings, emotions and facial expressions universal across borders, happy, sad, etc..?
I think feelings and emotions are almost the same thing.
The case is somewhat different for facial expressions because some people can assume a poker face.
2. Try to name as many feelings as possible in Japanese. ( 10 minimum) Then, write the English translation.
楽しい(happy) 嬉しい(glad)
悲しい(sad) 疲れる(tired)
退屈(boring) わくわくする(exciting)
面白い(interesting) 恥ずかしい(ashamed)
後悔する(regret) 安心する(relief)
感謝する(thanks) 緊張した(nervous)
心配する(worry) 腹が立つ(angry) うんざりする(disgusted)
3. Are there any feelings in Japanese that cannot be translated into English?
Yes, I think there are some feelings.
・はぶてる
・たいぎい
・むしゃくしゃする
・くすぐったい

It is very difficult for us to trandlate Japanese emotional words into English.
Also It is uneasy to Hirosima people to do not use Hirosima direcrion.
I think direction is one of country language.

i think たいぎい means like disgusting.. how do you think about that?

As you say, たいぎい is very difficult to translate.
I think たいぎい means like disgusting, and it gives people a pain(面倒くさい).
It's so difficult...

Yes, I think so, too.
Feelings are defferent Japanese from English.
And, There are many dialects all over the world.
So, it's difficult to show feelings with other language.

返信削除Expressing own feelings seems like simple, and people from all over the world use almost the same expression.
But I think it depends on not just their nationality.
Japanese is very difficult to translate into English. Especially, feelings.

So, When I translated, I often couldn't decide that what use English words.

返信削除Your opinion is interesting. I guess some of the words you chose are dialect of Hiroshima. after you transfer those words into satandard Janapese, you may be able to transfer those words into English, I think.
