Homework#10

I don't agree with the witer.

First, I think the education system spend enough time teaching Japanese. When I was a junior high school student, all students read a book in the morning. It is called "朝読". As reading a book, I learned kanji, some new words and the pleasure of reading. In my opinion, it is not to spend enough time teaching Japanese but rather to have no a desire to learn things for students. I work at a cram school now. I always feel it is difficult to teach some students who don't have a desire to learn. I think it's important to teach them importance of studying.

Second, I don't think Japanese fall in age of English. Certainly, some students may be confused by a difference between English grammar and Japanese grammar. But, almost students don't use English in their life. When I was a junior high school student, me too. They use English in only classes. I think it is not so influence.

Third, I think studying English hard is not so important. Certainly, if Japanese students can speak English, Japan become be a global society. People can communicate with foreigner easily. But, I think it is the most important thing to value our mother tongue. First, students should learn Japanese, and next, they should learn English.

  1. I agree with your third opinion. English is important, and it's useful to communicate, but of course, mother tongue is first! First Japanese and then English.

    I agree with you.
When I was junior high school, I had 朝読,too.
I liked this time, but some students didn't like it. Problem is not how to teach, it is how does students feel about learning.
