Homework#8

1.Have you ever eaten in a restaurant in a foreign country? Where? What did you eat? Did you make any mistakes? Please explain your experience.
Yes, I have.
I usually ate in a store of fast food in England.
For example, "Burger King", "KFC" and so on.
But, in London, I ate a Japanese curry and sushi with my friends. It was Japanese food restaurant! No one made mistakes particularly. Of course, that is the reason why we are Japanese:)


2. Did you learn anything?
In a store of fast food in England, I was surprised!! Basically, people must clear the table after they have finished a meal in Japan. But, some people keep putting a tray on a table in a big store of fast food in England.

Homework#7

About Ms. Camilla's presentation
I don't know about Denmark, and I have never go there.
I'm interested in her presentation and Denmark.
The most surprise thing for me was putting a fresh fish on a bread.
Open sandwich is not so popular in Japan.
Japanese sandwich put egg, ham or vegetable etc between slices of bread. It is normal. I have never heard sandwich put a fresh fish between slices of bread. I was so surprise. If I have a chance, I try it.


1.Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Why?
I think it is good idea because wedding ceremonies are very important event in each couple's life. Having a massive wedding become a big memory for them. But, I think the most important thing is their feeling. It is good to agree a couple each other even if a wedding ceremony is small.


2. What do you think about eloping? Is it a good idea or romantic? Why?
I think it is romantic!!
I have never seen (or heard) a couple who elope. I just watched on TV drama. People can't elope without big LOVE. I want to meet a wan who can elope with in the future:) But, I can't choose a family or him maybe...


3. Have you ever thought about having a wedding in a foreign location like Hawaii? Would you do it? Why?Or Why not?
Yes, I have. Recentlly, I often talk with my friends about it.
Having a wedding in a foreign location is my dream.
I want to have a wedding ceremony in the Palau Islands!!
I like sea in Palau Islands. It's so beautiful view.


4.What is your ideal wedding?
My ideal wedding is wearing a white dress and make up the whole body. I want to be beautiful on the day. When possible, I want to have wedding ceremony in a foreign location. Then, my husband and I hold a ceremony in a church. The most important thing is becoming a memory I'll never forget.


5.What would you definitely do, wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?
I want to wear a white dress, make up the whole body.
I have had a longing for a white dress for a long time because I was impressed when I saw a bride wearing a white dress first time.


6. Have you ever been to a foreigner's wedding? What was your impression?
No, I haven't.
I want to go to a foreigner's wedding!!
When I saw the movies in this class last week, I thought the foreigner's wedding ceremonies are flowery!! These are so cute:)

Homework#6

1.Do you think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class? Why?
I think .. No.
It is not important, but I think we are interested in it.
We may know foreign country's way of thinking through talking about superstitions, but there are some other topics to know. For example, work, manners, school and so on. I think superstitions is not so important topic.


2.Is communication affected by superstitions?
I don't think so.
I think superstitions is just superstitions.


3.Do you believe in superstitions? If yes, what superstitions do you believe?Why do you do, use, or believe in them?
I don't believe it, and I usually don't believe fortune-telling, too.
I don't want to easily influenced by superstitions.
As set out above, I think superstitions is just superstitions.

Homework#5

1. Please explain a time proverb in your culture.
I think a time are treated valuable thing in a proverb in my culture. For example, "Time flies." and "Time and tide wait for no man." Time is important for us.


2. What do the following proverbs mean:

a. Time is money.

It means that time is valuable, and shouldn't be wasted.

b. A stitch in time saves nine.
It means that it's better to work without sparing oneself, if you wait may become worse or more difficult.

c. There's no time like the present.
It means that now is the best time to do something.
You should not do in the future.

d.Let's meet at 4. If I'm not there by 5, leave without me at 6, and I'll be there at 7.
I'm sorry I don't know that meaning.

Homework#4

What are some subjects that you will never discuss with a friend?
I can't talk about my things of past, some probrems in my family, and illness to friends.
I don't want to talk about them.
If friends ask me about them, I evade a question.


Do you have different friends for different parts of youe life? If so, how are they different to you? Do you talk about different things? Go to different place? Give me some examples.
Yes, I do.
I have best friends, someone who is a person one knows by sight, and yanger students, and so on.
I talk about myself to only best friends.
Also, I just greet to someone who is a person one knows by sight.
The difference between best friends and others is personal space.
I go shopping, or trip with my best friend.
But, I want to value our relationships.

Homework#3

1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?
I think clothes is related to first impression. For example, all people wear a suit when job hunting.
But, I think it takes time to get to know a person's good point. So, nobody know another person's real character. It is important to don't judge someone on only clothes.

2. Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?
Yes, I think so.
It is one of the important things.
Of course, the most important thing is character, but I think it is difficult for Japanese society to judge only an interview. If so, it's the most easy way to judge a foreigner's clothing.

3. What colors are you wearing now? Do they reflect your mood?
I'm wearing a sweater, a skirt, and tights now.
Yes, they are.
This sweater is new, so I feel happy.
Favorite or new clothes make me happy.

1.Death and Funerals
a. Do you have any international friends or a host family?
I went to England last summer, and I stayed host family's house.
But, I don't contact with them now ;(
If a family member died, I wouldn't say anything.
I will just stand by them because I don't know what should I say.
I think sometimes word may hurt someone's feelings.
It is the most important to enter into a family's feelings, I think.

b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?
No, I haven't.
I have never been to a foreign funeral.


2. The language of Clothes
a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?
Recently, Japanese people tend to be careful about personal appearance, and I like to dress up, too. I think almost Japanese people regard looks as one of the important points.

b.What does “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” mean to you?
This mean to me is "Don't judge people by their looks."
In the same point as people, when we choose a book, we should look the contents of a book carefully.
